The aim of this study is to present current views on the use and efficacy of sleeve gastrectomy for treatment of obesity. This method is not new but for a few years the benefits of its use have been apparent also as an isolated procedure. There are many scientific studies to compare SG with other traditional bariatric operations and assess its advantages. Simultaneously it has been necessary to carry out examinations to improve this procedure technically and to take a long-term follow-up.
